Alexis P. Suter

Alexis P. Suter is a powerhouse vocalist who blurs the lines between blues, soul, gospel, and rock. Based in Brooklyn, NY, Suter owns a “big, booming voice” heard roaring out of the church and straight into the hearts of audiences. Her band – a tight five-piece ensemble – delivers a unique sound that artfully blends deep blues with the raw emotion of gospel and the drive of rock ’n’ roll.

A three-time Blues Music Award nominee, Suter first gained national attention when Levon Helm (of The Band) invited her to perform at his Midnight Rambles, where her commanding presence brought down the house nightly. She and her group have since opened for icons like B.B. King, Etta James, and Buddy Guy, and they’re now a staple on the festival circuit. Alexis is as fascinating to watch as she is to hear – she often takes the stage in her trademark bluesman’s top hat, then proceeds to unleash a voice that can “whisper and purr, then swell into a pulsating wave of sound”. Her repertoire ranges from roof-raising blues anthems to soul-soaked ballads (many of which reflect her gospel choir roots). In 2024, the Alexis P. Suter Band signed with Nola Blue Records and released a new album, further cementing her status in the contemporary blues world. Festival attendees can expect Suter’s set to be a tour de force of soulful singing – one moment she’ll have you dancing and clapping along, the next she’ll hush the crowd with a heart-stirring, church-inflected hymn. In every case, Alexis P. Suter leaves it all on stage, delivering a truly soulful experience.
