David Granati & Ohio’s Legendary Git Shorty

This special collaboration brings together Pittsburgh rock royalty and an Ohio blues legend. David Granati – of the famous Granati Brothers – is a virtuoso guitarist and songwriter who first made his mark touring arenas in the late ’70s and ’80s (his band opened for acts like Van Halen on tour). Today, Granati remains a fixture in the regional music scene as a performer and mentor (he founded the “For Those About to Rock” academy for young musicians). He delivers classic rock and blues riffs with seasoned ease and infectious energy, carrying on the Granati Brothers’ legacy of soulful, high-quality rock.

Joining him on stage is “Git” Shorty – Git Shorty is an Ohio native who earned his stripes playing with “The Godfather of Soul,” James Brown in the 1960s, before going on to play with some of the most talented musicians of our lifetimes. He graduated from the prestigious Juilliard School of Music and is a Maestro.

Shorty is a pioneer in guitar tricks and is one of the first to play behind his head and with his mouth. Git Shorty is a showman!

A famous sideman, Shorty released a self-titled album, is working on a follow-up, and tours with a band of his own.

The 84-year-old (soon to be 85 in July) national recording artist still plays with the energy and exuberance of a teenager. He engages the audience for a show that’s exciting, fun, memorable and unlike anything you have had before.

Together, David Granati and Git Shorty bridge generations and state lines, creating a blues-rock revue that’s equal parts Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Expect fiery guitar duels, soulful call-and-response jams, and a whole lot of joyful noise when these two unite. It’s not often you see a collaboration that spans ages and genres like this – Granati’s rock ‘n’ roll prowess combined with Shorty’s deep-rooted soul groove promises to be a festival highlight that honors the past while kicking up plenty of fresh excitement.
