Jimmy Adler & The Soulville Horns
Pittsburgh’s own Jimmy Adler is a blues guitarist and singer with a reputation for making every stage he steps on sizzle. A “live-wire entertainer” with more than 30 years on the scene, Adler specializes in straight-up, joyful blues – his music is a smooth blend of Chicago blues grit and West Coast jazzy jump, delivered with elegant guitar phrasing and a fat, clean tone. His passionate, powerful vocals perfectly complement his spirited playing, which can swing light and sweet or hit with fiery intensity. As a bandleader, Jimmy packs endless energy and feeling into every performance, earning him praise as “a stylist with charisma and magnetic stage presence. Always gritty, soulful, and sweet”. He favors original compositions that are steeped in Americana roots but stamped with his own unmistakable touch, rather than simply rehashing old blues standards.
For this special festival set, the Jimmy Adler Band will be supercharged by The Soulville Horns – a crack horn section (saxophones, trumpet, and trombone) that adds a blast of brass and soul to the mix. With the Horns behind him, Adler’s sound takes on the spirit of a swinging blues revue, evoking the big-band blues of B.B. King and the soul of Memphis. Expect romping jump-blues numbers that get you out of your seat, soulful blues ballads that showcase Jimmy’s stinging guitar solos, and maybe even a New Orleans-flavored R&B jam or two. A respected performer who has wowed audiences from Western PA to France, Jimmy Adler knows how to “romp, jump and wail” with “infectious dynamism”. With the Soulville Horns powering the sound, he’s sure to turn the festival into a swinging, hip-shaking blues party.
